The PICREID midterm meeting took place on January 19th & 20th, 2023 at Institut Pasteur, in Paris.
Despite strikes in France which heavily impacted the public transport system, we had the pleasure of welcoming over twenty in-person participants in addition to the thirty-five or so online.
On Day 1 we heard progress updates from all the teams in the consortium and observed a lively round table discussion on Point-of-care diagnostics led by Dr. Ahmed Abd El Wahed of Leipzig University.
On Day 2, we started the day with a capacity-building exercise, inviting our Year 3 CREID Pilot Program candidates to share their proposals and get feedback from senior investigators before the deadline of this call on January 30th 2023. Following this, the Institut Pasteur Grants Office and SPAIS department shared tools, tips and opportunities for grants. We then heard scientific presentations from three of our collaborators (Drs. Marc Eloit and Pablo Guardado-Calvo of Institut Pasteur and Dr. Tineke Cantaert of Institut Pasteur du Cambodge).
We concluded the meeting on Day 2 with a special event, Novel Discoveries in Infectious Diseases, with talks given by our Keynote speakers Kei Sato, Keita Matsuno and Akatsuki Saito.
